Tecno Camon 30S Pro unveiled: 50MP camera, Helio G100, and magnetic wireless charging
The Tecno Camon 30S Pro is the latest model in Tecno's line of photography-focused smartphone series. Launching a few months after the Camon 30 Pro, the new phone brings a brand new chipset and its own version of magnetic wireless charging.
The Camon series is known for its cameras, and the Camon 30S Pro is no different. Its humongous round camera module, similar to that of the OnePlus 12R (curr. $599 on Amazon), is home to a 50MP Sony IMX896 camera with a 1/1.56'' sensor size and a 1μm pixel size. The primary camera has optical image stabilization and is paired with a 2MP secondary depth sensor. There is also a 50MP autofocus front-facing camera with dual flash.
As is expected of a camera-focused phone, there are a handful of features to make your photos turn out nice such as a proprietary algorithm that ensures the camera captures precise skin tones, a handful of portrait modes, and an AI eraser to remove unwanted objects and persons.
The rest of the specs are pretty decent. The display is a curved AMOLED panel that's 6.78-inches in size with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1300 nits. It also has PWM dimming. Under the hood is the Helio G100 processor, a new 6nm chipset from MediaTek. While it doesn't have 5G, Tecno says it utilizes a technology that upgrades the 4G network to 4.5G for double downlink data speeds of up to 300Mbit/s. The processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The Tecno Camon 30S Pro has a 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast wired charging, and for the first time on a Tecno smartphone, there's also support for wireless charging. What's more interesting is that it's magnetic thanks to the help of a special charging case. If you opt to charge with a wireless charger, it can reach up to 20W.
Tecno has also added an IR blaster, NFC, a fingerprint scanner, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, and an FM radio. In addition, there's a red LED on the back that serves as a notification light when taking photos, recording videos, or even just charging the phone. The Camon 30S Pro has an IP53 dust and waterproof rating.
